Instead of drinking only an extract, consuming matcha in its pure form provides a delicious and incredibly nutrient-dense drink rich in antioxidants, amino acids and chlorophyll. The L-Theanine in matcha, a powerful amino acid, gives a pronounced synergistic effect when combined with caffeine to provide sustained energy without the crash and promote focus without the jitters.
How to Enjoy
There are many ways to enjoy matcha, from hot or cold lattes, to adding it in your smoothies, protein shakes or cooking.
The suggested serving size for drinks is about 2g (1 teaspoon), use more or less depending on the size of your drink and preference. Matcha is naturally bitter and has a grassy taste so we recommend adding your favourite sweetener such as honey, maple syrup or stevia if matcha is new to you.
Simple Matcha Latte Recipe
- Add ½ - 1 teaspoon (2g) of matcha to a cup or bowl
- Add hot water (not boiling)
- Use a bamboo whisk or fork to whisk vigorously until smooth and frothy
- Add your favorite milk (hot or cold) and sweetener if desired
- Enjoy hot or over ice for an iced latte
Note - 1 gram matcha contains about 34mg caffeine.
Storage Instructions
Matcha is very delicate and degrades easily when exposed to oxygen, humidity and light.
We recommend storing your matcha in an airtight container in a cool and dry environment away from sunlight - such as the fridge or cupboard.
The best before date of matcha is about 2 years from the date of manufacture, however it may lose flavour and become bitter after 12 months, even if unopened.
How is Matcha Made?
Some Matcha contains the stems and veins, giving the finished tea a very bitter flavor and diluting the nutritional qualities. Our Matcha contains only the young leaves and nothing else. It is shade grown, hand picked, steamed & air dried then ground into a fine powder using granite stones. This traditional method gives our vibrant matcha an ultra-fine texture that’s incredibly smooth, rich and full of nutrition.
