The Bamboo whisk is an essential item for matcha lovers and the most authentic way of making a creamy and frothy matcha every time because it separates the powder which stops it from clumping.
Our whisks are specially made with 100 prongs - the more prongs, the smoother the matcha and less time you spend whisking.
How to use
- Soak your whisk in warm water for a few minutes before every usage to soften the bristles and also improve the elasticity of the bamboo
- Place your matcha powder into a bowl
- Pour in about 80ml hot but not boiling water (72°C / 162°F)
- Whisk vigorously using a back and forth M-shaped motion to dissolve the matcha powder and create a silky smooth mixture.
- Continue whisking until there are no clumps and a fine froth has developed on the top (10-15 seconds).
How to clean & care for your whisk
- Place the whisk under a gentle stream of hot water until clean.
- Pour hot water into a bowl and whisk until clean, then pour the water out.
- Leave the whisk out to completely dry before storing it.
A broken or thinning matcha whisk may not be able to blend or remove the clumps in your matcha smoothly. Since bamboo whisks are made from a natural material they are susceptible to deterioration and must be washed and dried to prevent them from molding. Typically, a bamboo whisk can last up to about 2 years if maintained properly.
